Community Active Assailant Response Training

The Community Active Assailant Response Training will empower faculty, staff and students to develop a proactive approach to surviving a violent intruder situation until law enforcement arrives. Following the A.L.I.C.E. model, instructors will help you create a plan to make informed decisions about responding to a crisis event when immediate information about the event, such as the exact location of the assailant, is limited. Following this workshop, you will better understand when to run, hide or fight and how best to do so in the event of a crisis on campus. You will also have the opportunity to participate in an interactive practice scenario.

Returning to Campus: Tips for Supporting Our Students

As the University begins a new academic year, it is important faculty and staff members feel comfortable supporting our students as many re-enter the classroom and campus life for the first time since the tragedy on April 30. Topics covered in this workshop will include: facilitating conversations about the shooting; identifying students who may be in need of support; understanding available campus resources; and building a community of care in the classroom.
