As an employee, how do I account for my time during the change in status of University operations for April 30 – May 1, 2019?
Employees should consult the Kronos WRF Time Accounting Guidelines document. This document has also been uploaded in Kronos WFR. Questions regarding timekeeping in Kronos should be directed to Donna Cochran, donna.cochran@uncc.edu, Ext. 7-6110.

What is the University’s focus at this time?
First and foremost, UNC Charlotte is focused on those affected and their families, as well as the wellbeing of the University community.

When did this happen?
The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 30 at approximately 5:40 p.m.

Where can I find information about past Niner Alerts?
Past Niner Alerts can be found online.

Can I watch the May 1 vigil virtually?
Yes, the vigil is archived on livestream.charlotte.edu.

Should I still submit my application to apply to UNC Charlotte?
Graduate Admissions advises that the Second Summer graduate application deadline will remain open until June 15.

How can alumni and the Charlotte community help UNC Charlotte at this time?
Many have stepped forward to ask how to help the University at this time. Our focus is, first and foremost, on those affected, their families and the well-being of Niner Nation. As we move forward, one way alumni and friends can help is by considering a contribution that will have a meaningful impact. Niner Nation Unites, the University’s official crowdfunding site, was established in response to the overwhelming desire to support the victims and the UNC Charlotte community during this time of tragedy. The University is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support.

Is there an official, UNC Charlotte crowdfunding site dedicated to this?
The only official University crowdfunding site is https://crowdfund.charlotte.edu/ninernationunites.


Services

What counseling services are available?

  • Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)CAPS is open to serve students from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Price Center is located next to the Student Health Center on 9502 Poplar Terrace. After-hours phone counselors are available by calling 704-687-0311.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) — Employees who need support should contact the EAP at 1-877-603-8259. Onsite support is available Monday in King 201A and 201B. Additional information is available on the HR website or by contacting Cindy Edwards at ckedwards@uncc.edu or 704-687-0658.
  • Share your personal thoughts and reflectionsNiner Nation Remembers has been established to honor Riley Howell and Reed Parlier and in support of the four other students who suffered injuries. There is also a place for members of Niner Nation to share their own thoughts and reflections about the events of April 30.
